Visual Insight dashboards

    • Improved export customization: The Export to PDF dialog box has been added to allow formatting of PDF exports. Customization options include page orientation, page size, page header and footer visibility, overview page creation, and visualization specification. For a description of the available settings, see Exporting a dashboard. This enhancement to distribution services makes it possible to share content in a way that is more relevant to users.
    • New pre-defined color palettes: New out-of-the-box color palettes are available, inspired by nature. You now have more options when deciding dashboard color themes, improving dashboard aesthetic with little effort.
    • Tooltips that identify original name of renamed attributes and metrics: You can now hover the mouse pointer over objects in the Editor or Datasets panel to display a tooltip that shows the original name of an attribute or metric along with a description, if available.

    • More formatting options for Totals: Previously, when you changed value formats through the floating Format menu or Properties panel, formatting applied to the entire grid - including the subtotal row. Subtotal rows can now format independently from values on the grid.  With this enhancement, you can assign different formatting rules to subtotal rows on grid visualizations without affecting the rest of the values in the grid.

    • Improved ability to switch between Shape types: You can now switch between shape types across the graph matrix and not lose applied formatting. For example, when a bar chart is changed to a bubble graph, the drop zones in the bubble graph will retain its original formatting. This enhancement facilitates the data discovery process, allowing users to confidently switch back and forth between visualizations.

Report services documents

Hierarchy Reporting (Early Adopter feature)

    • Performance enhancement: When navigating a hierarchy, the display of elements is now noticeably faster.
    • Data internationalization support for Microsoft Analysis Services: The LocaleIdentifier connection string parameter, which is used by Microsoft Analysis Services for data internationalization, is now supported.
    • Support formatting by cell for MDX metrics: For MDX metric values, you can now select whether to format per column or cell. (In MicroStrategy Developer, navigate to VLDB Properties > MDX > MDX Cell Formatting. Then select MDX metric values are formatted by column (default) or MDX metric values are formatted per cell.)

MicroStrategy Desktop

    • Improved export customization: The Export to PDF dialog box has been added to allow formatting of PDF exports. Customization options include page orientation, page size, page header and footer visibility, overview page creation, and visualization specification. This enhancement makes it possible to share content in a way that is more relevant to users.
    • Support for easily switching to the locale associated with a dashboard (.mstr file): A dashboard created with a different locale setting may not display as designed. If you open a dashboard file that was created using a different locale than your current setting, you are now asked whether you want to change to the locale setting associated with the .mstr file.

    • View messages in new Inbox: The Usher Security app now includes an Inbox for viewing messages. The Inbox includes two tabs: New (for viewing new messages) and Replied (for viewing messages to which you have replied).
    • Display of security code on badge: To better accommodate multiple use cases, either the Usher Code or the One Time Password may be optionally displayed on an Usher badge:
      • Usher Code: The Usher Code is unique to each user and can be configured to change routinely. For example, this code can be given over the phone to identify yourself if you are talking to someone who does not know you. By default, the Usher Code is 4 or 8 digits in length and updates every hour (previously it refreshed every 60 seconds).
      • One Time Password (OTP): The OTP is not unique to each user and is designed for use with another identifier (such as a username or employee ID) to authenticate your identity. For example, you would enter your username and this OTP to login to a VPN. By default, the OTP is 6 digits in length and updates every 60 seconds.

Network Manager

    • Optionally display a security code on badge: When designing a badge, you can choose whether to display the Usher Code, the new One Time Password, or neither code on the front of the badge. For more information see Customizing the design of a badge.

    • Connect multiple Usher Networks or multiple Usher Servers to a single logical resource (e.g. a web application): You can now assign unique SAML certificates to each Usher Network, and/or a unique identity provider (IdP) Issuer ID/URL to each Usher Security Server. This allows you to share (connect to) a single logical resource across multiple Usher Networks and/or Security Servers.
    • Support for high-availability with a load balancer: During Usher Security Server configuration, you can now optionally configure multiple server/gateway nodes to operate with a load balancer. To configure, navigate to "Usher Configuration" and scroll down to the "Cluster Configuration" section. Specify the gateway load balancer and nodes.

Usher Analytics

    • New dashboard - Usher KPI Grids: A new standard dashboard is available, Usher KPI Grids, for analyzing key performance indicators of individual users. Select the tabs to review the Telemetry Log, User Log, Cities, Timesheet, Spaces, Applications, and more.

Usher Professional

    • Auto-Refresh option: When the new Auto-Refresh option is turned on, Usher Professional continually scans for users that meet the search criteria. The Auto-Refresh option is especially useful when displaying a list of users based on location. As user locations change, the list of users updates. Additionally, before a user is removed from the screen, the user's picture fades to make you aware of the change. Note that when selecting users, the Auto-Refresh option is temporarily turned off to stop a selected user from disappearing. For more information, see Usher Professional App Interface.

    • Capture one-way messages: A one-way message is a notification message that is sent by Usher Professional without an option to respond. For one-way messages in 10.8, Usher Professional can track whether the message was sent, whether the message was received, and the status of the sent message (confirmed, unconfirmed). One-way messages now include a Confirm button. When the recipient taps the button, the information is recorded for later analysis with Usher Analytics.
